What is actually included in the drawing part of a construction project? This question is asked by many investors, especially at the beginning of the adventure with construction planning. The drawing part is a graphic representation of the building and its surroundings - it shows in a technical way how the object should look, how it will function and what construction and installation solutions were adopted by the designer. This is an inherent element of the documentation, which works in parallel with the descriptive part.
In a construction project, the drawing part most often contains: plans of all floors, sections of the building, facades, landscaping design, installation diagrams and structural details. Each drawing is made on an appropriate scale, which allows you to accurately read the dimensions, layout of rooms, material solutions and relationships between elements. For example: the ground floor plan will show walls, doors, windows, stairs and installations - windows can be marked with a symbol of type 150 x 120, which means dimensions in centimeters. In the sections we will find information about the height of the floors, the thickness of the ceilings and the arrangement of the floor layers. The drawing part is used not only by designers and officials, but above all by contractors and construction managers. It is on its basis that the course of works, the location of the installation, the selection of materials and the method of execution of individual elements are determined. The drawings must be consistent with the descriptive part and comply with the technical and construction regulations, and their accuracy directly translates into the quality of execution.
Although graphic language may be difficult for an investor to read at first, it is worth familiarizing yourself with it. Floor plans and facades are especially helpful - it is they who show how the interiors will look, the proportions of the body, the arrangement of windows and doors. When in doubt, it is a good idea to ask the architect to discuss the drawings and indicate the key elements. In the case of a single-family house, the drawing part is not very extensive, but contains all the necessary information that allows you to obtain a building permit or realize an investment on application. It is thanks to it that the office can check the compliance of the project with the regulations and the contractor translate the concept into a real, durable building.
